Senior Engineering Manager

I help engineers navigate career choices — and boost skills.

15+ years across full-stack development, solution architecture and engineering leadership. I've been on both sides of the promotion table, and I mentor engineers through the messy middle between “great senior” and “confident EM”.

01 / About

Both sides of the table

I'm a Senior Engineering Manager specializing in architecture. My background spans full-stack development, cloud computing and e2e solutions.

I have a background in engineering management. I've led people and teams through fast growth and hard times: reorgs, layoffs, promotion cycles, market downturns. Along the way I've come to care about two things: engineering done well, and managers who put people before process.

That's the perspective I mentor from: I know what companies actually look for, what makes hiring managers say yes in EM interviews, and what tends to break new managers in their first six months.

02 / What I help with

The problems I take on

For engineers

Senior to EM transition

Assessment of current skills and experience, growth roadmap, EM interview prep and mock interviews. From “I think I want management” to a confident EM.

For new managers

First year as an EM

Running the team management cycle: 1:1s that work, delegation without micromanaging, conflicts, performance talks. Stakeholder communication, promotions, and your first hard conversation.

03 / Selected cases

Problems in, outcomes out

CASE-01
Problem

Senior/lead engineer, 2–3 years without growth, no clear picture of where to go next — IC track, management, or somewhere else.

Outcome

Mapped both tracks against his strengths; left with a concrete EM roadmap and a 90-day plan he's now executing.

CASE-02
Problem

New EM with 15 reports, drowning in meetings — and still doubting the career switch, because nobody showed him what the path forward looks like.

Outcome

Restructured the team, identified successors, improved delegation to cut the load; built a transparent growth path — the doubt turned into a plan.
